Settling In
We have been in Munich for exactly 3 weeks now. We are gradually settling and figuring out the so many different things that are different compared to Bangalore. It has certainly been challenging and interesting.
It is definitely a much slower pace than we are used to from Bangalore. The many tiny conveniences that come as a result of the cheap human capital are also missing. Having to regularly go out and buy stuff itself has been different, compared to Zepto/Blinkit/Instamart competing to bring groceries within minutes of ordering something. We have also ordered food home only twice over three weeks. In Bangalore, over a three week period, that would have been at least 10 times I reckon. This has made us a lot more deliberate in our activities.
I do like the public transport system so far. Being able to plan out routes to most places and the different modes of transport reaching the stops with an error of at most a few minutes of the mentioned time on Google Maps or MVGO (the very good app by the Munich transportation authority that can also handle tickets) has been superb so far. I hear that the overall transportation system has degraded which is certainly surprising.
Office started two weeks back and I am gradually ramping back up on what I missed during my short sojourn away. Space at home is a premium so I am planning to mostly work from office, though it is going to be only one more week before the Christmas break. We are thinking of visiting a few places within Germany over the break. Otherwise it is going to be really depressing to stay inside the house, which is something I am rather surprised to hear (or rather watch) myself type it out.
It has been almost a month since the last post, and I hope to write more frequently, somewhat like a record of our life here. But that is dependent on future Damu who I have heard is very bad at these sort of things. I do think I have a few ideas on what to write about, so hopefully it is going to be sooner.
